I did www.scriptfrenzy.org a
couple years ago. No contest component, but a challenge to oneself and also
a good reason for someone to get started.

I subscribe to www.withoutabox.com. You can subscribe to all the contests
by genre that matches up with your script, and they inform you via email. You
submit your scripts through their site via PDF (or a writing software format
like Final Draft if you prefer) and they take care of submitting your fee.
I found three contests on there for short scripts, placed in two and then won
the First Glance Film Festival Writing Contest (Philadelphia). They are producing
my short as my prize, paying half, providing labor and letting me co-direct.
I would never have known about any of those contests without withoutabox.com.
There are thousands of contests and festivals and it's the easiest way to bypass
having to sort through them.
