January 11, 2000 Take a Risk and Bull Session. This organized round-robin workshop required impromptu responses from participants and allowed everyone to learn about each other’s approach to writing. Participants were asked questions such as “How do you start your writing process?” “Do you outline?” “Who is the best character you ever created?” and others. For the Take a Risk part, participants were asked to bring something they’ve written to hand to others for critiquing. At Boddy Media.

February 17, 2000 One-Act Plays. Readings of three original one-act plays by ISA Members: Out to Pasture by Darby Harris, A More Perfect Union by Bill Coleman, and Cocktails and Dancing by Kay Rhoads. At the Cowles-Kruidenier Iowa Public Theater in the State Historical Building.

March 10, 2000 Meet Our Agent. In this seminar, Joe Milnar of Larchmont, a boutique L.A. agency, spoke to ISA members and others about the ins and outs of a Hollywood Agent.

April 1, 2000 The First Ten Minutes. Workshop organized by ISA as part of the IMPA annual meeting and awards day. Three scripts were read: Mike Hammer-The Little Death by Max Allan Collins, Dark Destiny by Melody Lowe and Kym Hackenberger, and Blue Blood by Steve Hakeman. At the West Des Moines Community Center.

May 1, 2000 Winners of the Iowa Scriptwriter’s Alliance 15-Minute Play Contest announced.

May 22, 2000 Play Reading. A new (partial) stage play by Lorenzo Sandoval – Rabelais. At Harmon Fine Arts Center, Drake University.

October 25, 2000 Script Reading. World Champion Tree Sitter by Barbara Alvord. At Drake University.
